Shop at Brigadeiro's: Rachel Roy Leather Jacket

Shop at Brigadeiro's

Rachel Roy Leather Jacket

Size US 6 (fits US 4 as well)
UK 8-10

This is from Rachel Roy's mainline collection, not her diffusion line, and retailed for well over US$1000.

I have not worn it myself, but lent it to my mom to wear it once for 2 hours. In pristine, as new condition.

Beautiful soft leather, fully lined, with subtle tweed detailing at the cuffs and under the lapels. Cute little round brass buttons, expert tailoring at the lapels, and two front pockets. Beautifully tailored/cut so that the hem curves downwards to be longer at the back, and clever pleating detail on the collar.

This transseasonal jacket can be worn casually during the day with a distressed tee and jeans, or in the evening with a dress and heels. I love this jacket, but the door hinges on my closet have come undone (seriously), due to too many jackets and coats (embarrassing much?). My loss is your gain.

Sell for US$249 for a quick sale.

Shop at Brigadeiro's: Australian (aka Aussie) designers - Alannah Hill, Zimmermann, Ae'lkemi, Paablo Nevada, Jain (prices revised)

Shop at Brigadeiro's

More items for sale from my wardrobe, these are all by Australian designers, priced to clear, as my wardrobe is in serious need of space. I have also reduced the prices of items in THIS and THIS post:

Paablo Nevada 'trench' blazer/jacket

US$89:

Beautifully constructed wool jacket/blazer by Australian designer Paablo Nevada (duo Betty Fong & Wayne Homschek) with trenchcoat elements (sleeve & collar) and brilliantly cut. Fully lined. New, never worn.

AUS/UK 8-10
US 4-6

Zimmermann Denim Coat
US$89

Love the pleated shoulders which give this gorgeous coat a subtle feminine touch, along with the pin-tucking at the front. My pictures do not do it justice, as you cannot see the fit, but it is beautifully cut to flatter the body.

Size 1
AUS/UK 8 (up to small 10)
US 4 (up to small 10)

Alannah Hill Cherry Knit cross-stitch top
US$49

The cross-stitching on this top is so cute! As are the gold 'x's along the neckline and armholes. Inside the straps are clever little ribbon & press-stud buttons to secure your singlet or bra strap (love details like that). In as new condition, the skirt below matches this demi-sheer knit top, although one can wear them separately, of course.

AUS/UK 8
US 4

Alannah Hill Cherry Knit Skirt
US$69

Fully lined, and a cute pleated style. My picture does not do it justice, as it has that slight 'schoolgirl' look...Fully lined, invisible zip & button on the side. The red on the top part of the skirt (i.e. in the shadow) is the true colour, a gorgeous cherry red...

AUS/UK 10 (although it fits a size 8)
US 4-6

Alannah Hill 'Charlotte' shirt
US$69

How cute are the buttons, and the frilled neckline and sleeves? Love the 'candy' look without it being too girly...

AUS/UK 8
US 4

Ae'lkemi cream skirt
US$89

Love this Perth label Ae'lkemi, especially their more streamlined minimalist looks...This gorgeous skirt has quite a bit of weight to it, and flows beautifully as you move.

AUS/UK 8
US 4

Bsouria brown pleated skirt with side 'tail'
US$15

This skirt is too cute! Sadly I feel like I am too old to be wearing this...the main part of the skirt is mid-thigh, with the cascading side 'tail' going past the knee, such a gorgeous silhouette, playful yet funky...

AUS/UK 8
US 4

Ae'lkemi Kimono Vest
SOLD!

Love the simplicity of this vest, with its self-attached belt, and gorgeous yellow lining, incredibly versatile...The photo does not do it justice, as it seems like the shoulders are quite wide, but they sit just on your shoulder (ie. does not stick out).

AUS/UK 8
US 4

Alannah Hill 'Coconut Ice' brown silk & lace shirt
US$69

100% silk with lace detailing and frill down the middle, cute slightly puffed sleeves...feminine without being overtly so, very versatile...

AUS/UK 8
US 4

Jain Black Wool Convertible Hooded Jacket BNWT

US$99

The tag is still attached to this gorgeous jacket. Made of a thick boiled/felted black wool, it is cut absolutely brilliantly slim to flatter your body, and hits around the hipbone. The grey marle lined hood is removable, did I mention I love details like that?

AUS/UK 8
US 4

Japan: Tokyo Part 2 - Meiji Shrine and '5 things' I LOVED in Japan

Just West of the railway tracks of Harajuku Station you will find Meiji Shrine, one of Tokyo's major shrines, in a large green oasis shared with Yoyogi Park (which I will share with you in a future post), it is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit, which seems worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Harajuku...

Washing hands is part of a ritual purification before entering a shrine.

I was so excited I got to witness a traditional wedding procession...

Dress: Akira blue silk/wool dress
Jacket: Nina Ricci silk goosedown-filled teardrop jacket (so warm!)
Boots: Chloe black leather buckled flat boots
Bag: Chloe Ava leather bag in Mocha

Another happy couple (love her wedding kimono!)

We got to wander in the Meiji Garden (within the Shrine complex) - unfortunately no flowers were in bloom, but we were lucky to catch a few last red leaves before they fell...

The autumn leaves of red and gold...

Thought I would share 5 things I loved in Japan:

1. Vending machines - you find these everywhere in Tokyo with cheap cold and hot drinks/coffee. There are even beer-vending machines, which hubby loved (they used to have them in Tokyo when he was last here 10 years ago, but we could not find a single one until we went to Kyoto).

2. I loved the variety of different coffees available, and could not resist trying a 'Hello Kitty' cafe au lait...just so I could photograph the cup and show it to my sisters

3. These 'sealed' sandwiches were great for breakfast or a snack (tried to always have one in my bag in case of 'emergency' - ie. if I got hungry), peanut butter and the chocolate flavours were my favourite (the chocolate included a slab of chocolate and chocolate cream, yum!)

4. Sushi!!! Or Sashimi...or really, the incredibly fresh raw fish in Japan...amazing!!! The tuna (maguro) simply melts in your mouth, and I adore scallop sashimi (hotate sashi).

Hubby had never tried scallop sashimi/sushi until this trip, and fell in love...

5. The toilets.

Laugh all you want, but the toilets in Japan are incredible (and so clean)! The one below was a simple model in my hotel room (I stayed at the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku, and highly recommend it! Great price, convenient location - 3 minutes from Shinjuku station, yet still quiet, small (well, it is Tokyo/Japan) but great rooms, great service, will stay here again for sure). 99% of public toilets had a fancy 'seat' (fancier than this one) which could include: bidet (including a setting for girls), warmed seats, flushing sound or music, air, etc...

Rewind & Recent Buy: Nina Ricci Fall/Winter 2007

Belgian-born Olivier Theyskens joined as creative director for Nina Ricci in 2006, and his collections won ardent praise by fashion critics for his ability to channel the house’s airy romance through chiffon layers and jeweled accents, consistently creating glamour with a Parisienne-punk edge. But to everyone's disappointment (mine included), he was let go after the fall 2009 show. During his short 3 years at Nina Ricci, my favourite collection of Olivier's for this fashion house was without doubt, his incredible debut collection for Nina Ricci: the Fall/Winter 2007 collection. This magical collection reminds me of 'The Chronicles of Narnia' perhaps with a touch of 'Swan Lake'...

For this collection, Olivier Theyskens said he wanted "to introduce a new wave of cool—something urban and gray-ish, but nonchalant, fragile, and superlight". He surely succeeded in doing so with teardrop-shaped down-filled blousons, twisted sweater dresses, and diagonally zipped biker jackets that fell open in soft, petal-like folds, his mood was beautifully ethereal — with carefully individually placed downy feathers floating from the models' hair creating a breathtaking effect. Having always loved the L'air du Temps bottle of perfume (and the actual perfume as well), I simply adored the spiraling cuts reminiscent of the crystal flacons of the classic perfume bottle, reflected on the floor-length gowns.

Sadly, I have no red-carpet occasions to wear such dresses (nor the money tree to supply funds to obtain one either). But I am so excited with my recent purchase: the opening silk teardrop-shaped twisted down-filled blouson jacket...I absolutely love it...and am looking forward to using it when I go to Japan in December (tips/recommendations/suggestions still more than welcome)...

Can't you just picture Tilda Swinton as the White Witch from 'The Chronicles of Narnia' in the stunning finale dress, or in that snuggly fur jacket?

Loved the ethereal snow fairies on the catwalk...
